FatPocket
FatPocket is funk and therefore is fun to hear, feel, move to and groove to. This nine piece band lays down true funk with razor sharp rhythms, hot horns and a thick bass line. FatPocket produces grooves that move your feet and change your world. In addition to bringing the funk, FatPocket brings the fun. Donning sunglasses at night, suits that would make Sinatra jealous and moves that cannot be touched, this crew is full of personality and is as fun as the funk they produce.
FatPocket rips out favorite after favorite, funkifying the Black Eyed Peas or throwing down the Godfathers of funk for the masses. With a set list ranging from Michael Jackson to Herbie Hancock, Prince to Chicago and Rick James to James Brown, FatPocket has something for everyone. In addition to being featured on Show Me St. Louis, FatPocket has premiered at some of the hottest night spots in the St. Louis area. Any night becomes better and funkier when FatPocket is present.
FatPocket was brought into existence in August 2004 when a jazz quartet from Lindenwood University discovered they possessed the rare ability to pull off funk. The three original members, Mike Curtis (Guitar), Ryan Murry (Bass Guitar), and Jason-Jay Bird- Hansen (Saxophone and Vocals) soon found Jeff Simpher (Trumpet), Chris Willson (Baritone Sax and Tambourine), David Wynton (Trombone), Robert -Jai Love- Johnson II (Keyboard, TalkBox and anything he can get his hands on), Kevin Williams (Drums or Skins) and Eric Williams (Lead Vocals). This union became St. Louis' Premier Funk Band. Together, they are a nine-piece funk band that is new, different, fresh and fun.
